Howard Parker Monroe Jr- Brother YHWH, 63, passed away Tuesday, April 9th, 2013 at his family home in Waynesboro.
He was born January 31st, 1950 in Harrisonburg, VA, a son of the late Virginia Brown and Howard Monroe Sr.
He was a disabled Army veteran, who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He later went on to receive a Bachelors Degree in Afro-American and Ethnic Creative Writing. Brother YHWH enjoyed reading and writing, as he published work sharing his life's journey entitled, "How I Became Jewish and Negro." He also enjoyed helping his community and striving for improvements and justices for others.
On March 7, 1987 Brother YHWH married Jacqueline Cherry. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and much more.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Jesus Monroe and daughter, Virginia Pearl Monroe. He is also survived by four stepchildren, Mark Kennard, Ada Hoover, Narcissus Peebles and James Peebles, and his niece Nikki Monroe.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Monroe and Charles Monroe and sister Nancy Monroe.
At his request, his body will be cremated and there will be a celebration of life service for him at Rosenwald Community Center at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 15, 2013.
Following the service, the family will greet friends.
