Obituary of Norvell Olin Clark
Norvell Olin Clark, age 87, of the Landmark Center, Stuart, and formerly of Fieldale, died Tuesday, April 09, 2013, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Lenoir, NC, May 23, 1925, he was a son of the late Oscar Clifford Clark and Mabel Pitts Clark. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Crystal Hundley Clark, and sisters, Lavonda Hutchinson and Marjorie C. Stanley, and brothers, Terrell Clark, Norman Clark and Kenneth Clark, and son-in-law, Paul Setliff. Norvell was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the 17th Airborne during World War II and received two purple hearts for his service. He worked in the furniture industry his entire career and retired from American Furniture Company. He was a very active member of Stanleytown United Methodist Church serving on numerous committees and was a member of the Wesley Adult Sunday School Class. Norvell was an avid golfer having played and won many local tournaments and in his later years, he was noted for shooting his age or less. Surviving are four daughters, Maelynn Farmer and husband Eddie of Radford, Teresa Setliff of Henry, Brenda Smith and husband Mike of Martinsville, Denna Eden of Roanoke, son, Phillip Clark and wife Connie of Easley, SC, two sisters, Kathryn Kelly and husband Jim of Pulaski and Joretta Griffith of Birmingham, AL, seven grandchildren, Jason Smith, Tyler Smith, Andrew Clark, Cody Farmer, Tara Salmons and husband Jonathan, Shelby Sayers and Zachary Taylor, a great-grandson, Cason James Clark, and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, April 12, 2013, at Stanleytown United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Cleveland and the Rev. Tilden Bridges officiating. Interment will be at Roselawn Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the church, P.O. Box 206, Stanleytown, VA, 24168.
