Joyce Stannard Park, of Williston, North Dakota and Annandale, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, of combined heart and renal failure. She is survived by her husband David, five children, (Robin Chapman of Springdale, AR, Sandra McEwen of Wheatland WY, Heather Vinter of Centreville, Michael Park of Clifton, and Christopher Park of Fairfax City) fifteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, sisters Gladys and Myrtie, and her brother James. She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Timothy and her brothers John, George, and Tom.
Joyce was born August 3, 1925 in Rawson, North Dakota, and lived a long and rich life. After graduating from the University of Minnesota in 1949 with a degree in Journalism, she worked at various times for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, for the U.S. Embassy in Venezuela, and for the then newly-created U.S. Army Special Services Agency in Germany and later the United States. She met her husband David while serving as Director of Special Services at Fort Bliss, Texas. They married in August of 1962 and spent the next half century traveling, raising six children, and loving each other.
