Obituary of Harold Winston Adams
ADAMS, Harold Winston, 98, of Richmond, Va., went to be with the Lord May 6, 2013. He was a resident of The Hermitage and the widower of the love of his life, Aileen Seymour Adams. He is survived by his daughter, Alice Aileen Adams; son, Harold Winston Adams Jr. and his wife, June; and two grandchildren, Duncan Thompson Adams and Meredith Adams VanDeursen. Mr. Adams was a native of Atlanta, Ga. and a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he also taught Sunday school for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII with the rank of Major. He retired after 28 years of service from Reynolds Metals as chief engineer and manager of engineering for electrical products and applications, and while there, he held three patents. He was active in various engineering and technological associations and most notably he was elected a "Fellow" of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in 1986. He authored and presented numerous engineering papers and brochures and was an internationally recognized authority in his field. He was a 1939 graduate of Georgia Tech and was also a registered professional engineer. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 12, from to 2 to 4 p.m. at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd. A memorial service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Richmond. Interment will be private at Westhampton Memorial Park.
