Obituary of Pauline Claire Weaver

IN THE CARE OF

Nelsen Williamsburg

Pauline Claire Weaver, age 79, of Williamsburg, VA, passed peacefully from this life in the company of family and friends on June 19, 2013 at Hospice House in Williamsburg. She lived courageously through illness and her passion for life and capacity for optimism inspired all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Hugh Weaver, two sons from her first marriage, Paul Valentine of Richmond, VA and Peter Valentine of Efland, NC and two step-children, Martha Marshall of Haymarket, VA and Hugh Mac Weaver, II of VA Beach, VA; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Pauline was born in Nottingham, England in 1933 and was educated at a girls’ school, leaving England for the United States in 1954. Her college studies stimulated a lifelong interest in American history and she was fortunate to pursue a career with Colonial Williamsburg for more than 20 years beginning as an interpreter of historic building and ending as Office Manager for the Visitor’s Center. Pauline enjoyed sharing her knowledge of Williamsburg and the historic area with visitors from near and far. In retirement she had the pleasure of welcoming many dignitaries and corporate groups as a tour guide for Sterling Events. Her warmth, wonderful sense of humor and contagious enthusiasm enabled her to sincerely welcome all as friends. The family will receive friends at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg on Sunday, June 23 from 6-8 PM. A mass will be offered at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd, Williamsburg at 9:00 AM on Monday, June 24. End of life care was lovingly provided by Hospice House of Williamsburg. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in her memory to Hospice House and St. Bede Catholic Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.nelsencares.com.
