Obituary of Dorothy Mae (Raines) Madison
Dorothy Mae (Raines) Madison, 80, of Crozet passed away Monday, June 24, 2013 at Martha Jefferson Hospital. Born September 8, 1932 in Charlottesville, she was the daughter of the late Doffie Mae and Viola Hattie (Morris) Raines. Dorothy worked at ConAgra for 30 years; she held various jobs during her employment until her retirement in 1991. She most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and cooking for family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Madison in 2005; infant daughter, Norma Jean Madison; grandchildren, Jenifer Steward and Clarence Steward; brothers, Clyde Raines and Thomas Raines. Survivors include her loving children, Samuel A. Madison and wife, Cheryl who was a special daughter-in-law to her, Gerald W. Madison and girlfriend, Velvet Stanley, and Teresa A. Steward and husband, Skip; step-son, Charles Madison, Jr. and wife Sheila; grandchildren, Heather Madison, Gerald Wayne “G.W.” Madison, Jr., Courtney Madison who was a loving caregiver to her for the last six months, Chris Madison, Kara Madison, Bobbie Steward, Amanda Steward and Cole Madison; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Breanna Dunn and Noah Grubb; siblings, Albert Raines and wife, Betty who was a special sister-in-law to her, Ronnie Raines, Randolph Raines, William Raines and wife, Faye, Warren Raines and wife, Paula, Nelson Raines and wife, Betty, Charles Raines and wife, Libby, Richard Raines and wife Barbara and Myrtle Garrison; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., with Pastor Tracy L. Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Samuel Madison, Gerald Madison, G.W. Madison, Chris Madison and Skip Steward. The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Friday, June 28, 2013 at the funeral home.
