Obituary of Clyde Beck Sr.
Clyde Samuel Beck, Sr., 94, of Evansville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 4, 2013. He was born on May 24, 1919 in Evansville. He was a Bosse High School graduate. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. Clyde began working at L. G. Murry Plumbing Co. in 1936 learning the pluming trade. He later worked for H.G. Newman Plumbing Co. and also Wattam Pluming Co., in 1955 he began his own business, Clyde’s Plumbing Service. He then opened Clyde’s Plumbing and Bath Boutique in 1972. He retired in 1981 but continued to help with the business until 2004. Clyde was a member of Grace Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 50 years and served on several committees at the church. He was also involved with Constructors for Christ helping with church construction mission projects in various states. He served on the Executive Board and property development committee of the Southwestern Baptist Association. He served on the Baptist Foundation of the State convention of Baptist in Indiana. Clyde also helped with construction of cabins and buildings at Highland Lakes Baptist Camp in Martinsville, IN. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Nina Marie Hall Beck; his parents, Felix S. and Gussie Thomas Beck; sisters, Pansy May Stevens and Christine Voyles; and granddaughter, Stephanie Beck Tipton. Clyde is survived by his son, Clyde Beck, Jr. and wife Mildred Morehead Beck of Evansville; daughter, Pat Savage and husband Tom of Olive Branch, Mississippi; grandson, Greg Savage and wife Val of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Tawne Ann Nicole Bucherl, Zachary Harris, Phoebe, Joanna, Will and Nathan Savage. The family would like to thank Dr. William Hardesty for his care for Clyde over the years. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, July 8, 2013 at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Rev. Ray Deeter, Rev. Greg Savage, and Dr. Tom Savage with entombment at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home. The Retired Veteran’s Memorial Club will perform military rites. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church Mission Ministry, 1200 N.
