William M. “Bill” Steele, 71, of Greencastle, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013.
He was born on October 25, 1942 in Greencastle.
Bill was a 1960 graduate of Cloverdale High School. He had been the owner and operator of Steele Trucking, was formerly employed at Schwerman Trucking, and was currently employed at Fred Cox Trucking. His memberships included the American Legion Post #58; VFW Post #1550, where he served as president of the auxiliary, Temple Masonic Lodge #47 F. & A.M., Eagles Aerie #4388, Moose Lodge #1592 and Elks Lodge #1077.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glen; and his wife of 47 years, Lois Ann Steele.
Surviving are his mother, Ruth Kenny Steele; children, Jennifer (Bruce) McCallie of Greencastle, and Chris M. (Terri)Steele of Indianapolis; special friend, Mary Lewis of Greencastle; one sister, Glenda (Jeff) Major of Bloomington; four brothers, Glen Russell Steele of Indiana, Jon Steele of Cloverdale, Rex (Marcie) Steele of Kentucky, and Terry Steele of Cloverdale; five grandchildren, Cortney (Richard) Branam, Cory (Randi) McCallie, Chelsea Steele, Cameron Norton and Riley Norton; and five great- grandchildren, Austen Branam, Kyley Branam, Willow Branam, Kingston McCallie and Malaki Steele
A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 7 P.M. at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Rempe officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 4 P.M. until time of services.
The family has requested Memorial’s in Bill’s name be directed to the New Providence Baptist Church Food Pantry, 6526 South County Road 550 East, Greencastle, Indiana 46135.
