MARY R. BAUMGARDNER HERR Mary R. Sanalitro Baumgardner Herr, a longtime resident of Washington, DC, Alexandria, VA, and Baltimore, MD, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late Elmer King "Bud" Baumgardner and the late Raymond Her. She is predeceased by her daughter Elizabeth Baumgardner Barbee; her son-in-law William Barbee Jr., and grandson William Barbee III of Newbury Park, CA. She is survived by her grandchildren Marta (Jay) Boyer of Marriottsville, MD, Erica (Michael) Salazar of Camarillo, CA, Christian Barbee of New Carrollton, MD; great-grandchildren Patrick, Ryan and Alison Barbee, Andrew and Jackson Boyer, and Michael Salazar; and many loving nieces and nephews including Peggy (Aaron) Taylor of Mechanicsville, MD, Barbara Renner of Littlestown, PA, April (Joseph) Tavano of Ohio, Lynn (Robert) Geida of Crofton, MD, Windsor (Maryam) Demaine of Alexandria, VA , and John Sanalitro of Crofton, MD. Mary was a devout Catholic. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Kavanaugh #54. She worked for many years for C&P Telephone Company, as a registered nurse, as well as a nanny to sick children. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, making gifts for her family and friends. Most importantly, Mary was a loving friend and caregiver; she will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the fortune to know her. Visitation will be held at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington St., Alexandria, VA 22314, (703) 549-0074, on Friday, March 14, from 9 to 10 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 310 S. Royal St., Alexandria, VA, on Friday, March 14, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, 1000 S. Washington Street, Alexandria, VA.
