Obituary of Ethel M. Tressler
Ethel M. Tressler, 97, of Connersville, died Saturday morning, April 26, 2014, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home, Connersville, where she had resided since August 2013. A native of London, England, Ethel was born August 7, 1916 to Ernest T. and Alice M. Taylor Henman and attended school there. She came to Connersville in December of 1948 and was married to Claude E. “Itch” Tressler on January 15, 1949 at Central Christian Church. Ethel was an Auxiliary member of the AMVETS, Veterans of Foreign Wars and 40 et 8. She loved bowling and held the office of league secretary for over 30 years. Ethel was a life member of the Women’s International Bowling Congress for over 50 years and had served as secretary. Her dedication lead to her induction into the local Bowling Hall of Fame. Ethel enjoyed watching her favorite sport teams, the Cincinnati Reds, Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers and Indiana University Basketball. In her leisure time, she liked gardening and working jigsaw puzzles. Ethel is survived by three sons: Brian Pyle and his wife, Faith; Arthur Tressler, all of Connersville; David E. Tressler and his wife, Krista of Melbourne, Florida; Grandchildren: Chris Pyle of Connersville, Kyle Tressler of Melbourne, Florida; Great-grandchildren: Lindsey and Jordan Pyle, Darricka Burton, Kaiden Tressler; sister-in-law: Annie Henman of Brussels, Belgium; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband of over 58 years, Ethel was preceded in death by three brothers: Cecil “Nobby”, Sidney E., and Walter “Wally” Henman. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel with Reverend Michael Sinclair of Central Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow at Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday from 12:00 until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society.
