Obituary of Florence E Gordon
Florence E. Gordon, 91, Greentown, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014, at Century Villa Health Care. She was born May 3, 1923, the only child of Harold James Burke and Anne Elizabeth Fowler Burke, in Pocatello, Idaho. She married Roscoe L. Gordon in Kokomo, and he preceded her in death in 2003. She attended several schools throughout the country and finally graduated from Kokomo High School. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, traveling, reading, crocheting, and spending time with family and friends. She retired from Delco Electronics in 1981 after 30 years of service. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, retired member of UAW 292, and also a former member of Women of the Moose, Foresters, Delco Camping Club, and TOPS. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Gordon and wife Marcia of Kokomo, and Erick Gordon and wife Ruth of Roann; two daughters, Teena VanBriggle and husband Grady “Jeep” of Marion, and Anne Stout and husband John of Greentown; eight grandchildren, Gregory Gordon and wife Shelley of Fishers, Jeffrey Gordon and wife Sarah of Fishers, Kendra More and husband Lance of Tinley Park, Illinois, John Stout and wife Lisa of Galveston, Anna McKinney of Peru, Greyson Mills of Wabash, David Mills and wife Holly of Converse, and Allen VanBriggle of Marion; nine great-grandchildren, Kristin Mills, Elyse Mills, Austin Huddleston, Kristina Gordon, Bryce More, Makayla More, Carter Gordon, Grant Gordon, and Jack VanBriggle; and one great-great-grandchild, Baylee Marie Herschberger. She loved her family very much. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
