Rose Mary Thorn Storer

Rose Mary (Thorn) Storer, 91 of Huntington passed away at 5:10am on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at The Heritage of Huntington. Rose Mary was a 1940 graduate of Andrews High School. She worked as a cook at Central Elementary School for 15 years and was co-owner of Country Flowers in Huntington for 8 years. She was a member of the St. Peter’s First Community Church and was a former member of the St. Paul’s County Line Church, and was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also Guardian of Bethel 27 of Job’s Daughters for many years.
Rose Mary was born on September 30, 1922 in Huntington, a daughter of John and Freida (Schenkel) Stephan.
She was united in marriage to Mark B. Thorn on November 29, 1941 in Bippus. He preceded her in death in July of 1981. She later married John Storer on October 13, 1994 in Gatlinburg, TN. He preceded her in death in 2010.
Survivors include a son: Steven A. (Sharon) Thorn of Urbana; a daughter: Carla (Greg) Young of Roanoke; two brothers: Walter “Jim” Stephan of Huntington; Carl R. Stephan of Bluffton; two sisters: Mae Leedy of Huntington; Marcella Westfall of Van Buren; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Eldon Stephan.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, 2014 from 4:00 – 8:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, August 16, 2014 with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.
Interment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made out to Kid’s Kampus in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
