Harold Elbert Bailey
June 3, 1923 – September 29, 2015

Harold E. Bailey of Richmond, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 29 at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan D. Bailey and by his Grandson, Adam J. Newsome. He is survived by his wife, Marcelle (Marcie) Bailey; daughter, Barbara Kay and her husband Rob Lockridge; granddaughter Rachael Newsome Fulop; and her husband Will; grandson, Josh Lockridge and his wife, Mandie, and great grandson, Hunter Fulop.
Harold was born on June 3, 1923 in Cherokee County, North Carolina, the son of Clayton C. and Mary V. Bailey. He served in the Navy on the destroyer, the USS Hudson, during World War II and was employed by the Naval Air Rework Facility in Norfolk, Virginia for 28 years, retiring in 1979 as a Toolmaker General Foreman.
Following retirement, He and Marcie moved from Virginia Beach to North Ft. Myers, Florida where they lived for 20 years before returning to Richmond to be closer to family.
Harold was dedicated and hardworking for Christ and his family and church. He was a devoted, loving husband and father and a kind gentleman. He will be missed and his memory cherished by all who knew him.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, October 10, at First Baptist Church, 800 Thompson Street, Ashland, VA.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Memorial Program, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
