Joan Sparks Owens Wagoner

Joan Sparks Owens Wagoner, born January 1, 1937, in Baltimore County, Maryland, went to be with the Lord Saturday, December 19, 2015, surrounded by family.
United in marriage to Richard C. Wagoner, Sr. on January 25, 1992.
Preceded in death by her son, Timothy Owens, parents Oscar and Jennie Baublitz Sparks, and sister Ann Sparks Gooding.
Survived by four children, Don Owens and wife Chris, Rick Owens and friend Lucy, Joni Mitts and husband, Steve and Paul Owens and wife Leah; five stepchildren, Shelly Hosford and husband Guy, Richard Wagoner, Jr. and wife Kay, Mike Wagoner and wife Julie, Alan Wagoner and wife Sandy, and Stephanie Gatewood.
Also survived by 22 wonderful grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren who knew her as Me-Maw; two sisters, June Demetris, and Joyce Ware, both of Redding, CA, and three brothers, Raymond Sparks, of Rising Sun, MD, Thomas Sparks, of Reisterstown, MD, and Jerome Sparks of Garner, NC.
She worked outside the home for many years, however, her greatest passion in life was being Mom and Me-Maw to her large family. She loved having a full table, serving everyone their favorite meals. Friends were always welcomed with open arms.
She was a longtime active member of Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church where she volunteered cooking, serving and decorating for many church events.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Mt. Pisgah U.M. Church at 11 am. A meal will follow in Social hall.
