James Wilmer Thornley Jr.

On Sunday, January 31, 2016, the Lord called James Wilmer Thornley, Jr. to his eternal rest. “Sonny”, as he was called by his family and friends, was born May 26, 1922 to the late James Wilmer Thornley, Sr and Ella Lucy Timbers Thornley in Delaplane, Virginia. James joined the Beulah Baptist Church on July 1, 2012 in Markham, VA and was baptized by Reverend Douglas Gore. James worked numerous jobs, such as lawn care for the Depuys, the Thompsons and the Delaplanes. He was also a truck driver, chauffer and a butler. He was always known for his kindness, his quietness and that smile and chuckle. James leaves to cherish his memory, two sisters, Maria C. Brooks, Front Royal, VA., Mary L. Gaskins, Arlington, VA., and one sister-in-law Ruth P. Thornley. Four brothers, Vernon L. Thornley, Benjamin E. Thornley, Henry F. Thornley and Ernest Thornley and two sisters, Jessie L. Thornley and Gladys T. Ball preceded him in death. James also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
