Obituary of Ruth Ann Girton Rinehart
Ruth Ann Rinehart, 74, of Evansville, is at home with her Lord and Savior and those who grieve her loss know she is at rest and at peace. She passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016, along with her son, David Rinehart, and granddaughter, Sophie Rinehart. She was born March 10, 1942, in Evansville, to the late Warren and Ruth Girton. She was an active member of Crossroads Christian Church, participating in Crossroads Choir, Prime Time Senior Ministry, and Bible study group. She was also a member of NEA, ISTA, ETA, Phi Mu Alpha Sorority, SAI Music Fraternity, and neighborhood bridge club. Ruth Ann was also an accompanist at several area churches, a member of the YWCA board of directors, and actively supported the Evansville Rescue Mission. She was a vocal music teacher for EVSC, teaching at Harper and Dexter Elementary Schools. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Evansville College in 1964 and her Master of Arts in Music Education in 1968 from Indiana State University. She was an avid reader, gave private piano lessons, loved everything related to her family, and was the consummate grandmother. She instilled the love of music and the arts, not only to her children but to countless others. Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Ruth Girton; mother and father-in-law, Cecil and Emily Rinehart; and brother-in-law, Richard Rinehart. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gary Rinehart; son, Shawn (Hannah) Rinehart; daughter, Sara (Chad) Rinehart McAtee; daughter-in-law, Lucinda Rinehart; grandchildren, Tatem, Jonas, and Scarlett Rinehart, Ellison, Ayden, and Adler McAtee, Josie and Rylie Rinehart; brother, David Girton; sisters-in-law, Kathy Rinehart, Jan McCollum, and Kathy Hansen; brother-in-law, Lonnie Hansen; nieces and nephew, Megan Malchioni, Haley Girton, Katie Brucks, Christopher Hansen, Kristin Laszlo, Jenny and David Rinehart. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, November 17, 2016, at Crossroads Christian Church, officiated by Pastor Ken Idleman and Pastor Todd Bussey, with private burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church.
