Ernestine Daniel Loving, 96, of Falls Church and formerly of McLean, Virginia, New Port Richey, Florida, and Amherst, Virginia passed away on May 25, 2017 at Powhatan Nursing Home in Falls Church. She was the wife of the late James Earl Loving. She is survived by her son, J. Wayne Loving and wife, Kathie of McLean. Born on December 26, 1920 in Brunswick County, Virginia, Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents, Peter Morris and Jeanetta Roberts Daniel and two brothers, Morris Franklin Daniel and James P. Daniel. Surviving grandchildren are James Wayne Loving, Jr. and wife, Jamie of McLean, Virginia, and Piper Loving Stevens and husband, Sean of New York City. Great-grandchildren include Adelaide and Charlotte Loving of McLean, Virginia. Also surviving are her sister, Nora D. Adams of Cheshire, Connecticut and Norma Hamilton Nicholson and her husband, Paul, of Hopewell, Virginia. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and friends. After graduating from high school, she attended Virginia Tech for one year. Ernestine and her family lived in McLean from 1954 to 1971. During that time she was employed as an Administrative Assistant to the President of Cooper-Trent, Inc., a printing company in Arlington Virginia, as well as at Auerbach Corporation in Rosslyn, Virginia. She was a member of the Zonta Club of Arlington and was an original member of the Charles Wesley Methodist Church in McLean. In 1971, Ernestine and her husband retired to New Port Richey, Florida, where she was involved with the San Clemente Community Home Owners Association and the local orchid club. Ernestine loved growing orchids as well as many other flowers and had a real green thumb. After the death of her husband in 1979, she went back to work as an employee of Freedom Savings Bank and retired from the Bank after many years of employment. In 2004 Ernestine moved to Amherst to be closer to her son and relatives from her husband’s side of the family and to escape hurricanes. She spent five wonderful years in Amherst, Virginia and then moved to the Lewinsville Retirement Home in McLean and later to Powhatan Nursing Home. The family would like to thank the staff of the Powhatan Nursing Home for the wonderful care they provided Ernestine during her residency of four and a half years. They would also like to thank the Hospice staff of Capital Caring. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Murphy Funeral Home, Falls Church, Virginia. A graveside service will be conducted at Noon on Friday, June 2nd at the National Memorial Park in Falls Church, Virginia.
