Obituary of Mary C. Larimer
Constance Mariah Larimer, “Mary” to all her family and friends, was 91 years old when she passed away at home and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to spend eternity in Heaven. She went home on Thursday, July 13, 2017. Mary was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker for most of her life. She loved her family with all her heart, and truly enjoyed spending quality time with in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, children, and grandchildren. She especially loved attending Larimer family reunions, where she would spend hours reminiscing and catching up on all the latest news and gossip about the entire family. When Mary was home, she eagerly awaited an opportunity to play cards and board games with willing participants. These feisty matches of wit and endurance could last for several hours, if not well into the evening. However, the late hour never fazed Mary because she was a night owl, often laying on the couch in the living room and staying up until the wee hours of the morning being entertained by Johnny Carson, David Letterman, Jay Leno, and let’s not forget about Jimmy Fallon, who was by far her favorite. Mary was entertained by celebrities, watching her shows and reading her gossip magazines. Let’s not forget about Elvis, oh my goodness, he was her favorite celebrity of all time. She was his biggest fan and her collection of Elvis memorabilia proved her undying devotion to the music and movie legend. Mary was an avid card giver and if you were fortunate enough to receive one, she had the most beautiful handwriting and filled them with heartfelt notes that could bring tears to the reader’s eyes. Boy, did she ever know how to shop and wrap, each present was hand-picked and meticulously decorated in such a way that you didn’t even want to open it! Mary kept herself busy during the day by keeping the cleanest house in the country by taking painstaking steps in laundry, scrubbing, and dusting. Let’s not forget about those endless crossword puzzles which could be stacked clear to the ceiling. Mary was loved and cherished by all who knew her. She had a heart of gold and always made you feel special. She loved having visitors and would encourage friends and family to visit and reminisce about life or simply play a game with her. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Donald Eugene Larimer in 2004; and her first born son, Donald Michael Larimer in 2005. Mary will be greatly missed by the rest of her family: two sons, Gary Eugene Larimer and wife Becky of Sullivan and Larry Wayne Larimer of Terre Haute; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be held from 11 to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 15 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home officiated by Rev. Gary Larimer of Sullivan Wesleyan Church and Rev. Curtis Mitchell officiating. Mary will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park’s Chapel of Memories. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Intrepid Hospice. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.roselawnfuneralhome.net
