Carla Hartmann

Carla Kay Hartmann, 75, of Terre Haute, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Union Hospital. She was born on August 25, 1941 in Terre Haute to Warren Mankin and Mary Ellen (Allen) Biles. Carla is survived by her children, Kyle Hartmann of Palm Springs, CA, Emi Moody of Ballwin, MO, and Beth Sullivan and husband Kevin of Indianapolis; grandsons, Dylan Moody of Ballwin, MO, Gavin and Cameron Sullivan, both of Indianapolis; a sister, Cheryl Waugh of Terre Haute; a brother, David Mankin of Terre Haute; life-long friends, Lynne Thomas of Sullivan and Joan Blazek of Arlington Heights, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Hartmann; and a sister, Delores Holman. Carla graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood development. She taught for several years before becoming a stay at home mother. Carla enjoyed collecting antiques. She had a booth space at Nancy’s Downtown Mall so she could share her unique finds with other collectors. Carla was a member of the Red Hat Society. In her spare time, she loved reading. A warm and embracing person, Carla took joy in spending time with and caring for others. She was a loving mother. Carla had a quick wit and great sense of humor and a knack for putting a smile on anyone’s face. Some of her favorite times were spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 10 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9 at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home. Carla will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the local American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
