Marie G. Landes

Maggie Marie (Groah) Landes, 78, of Waynesboro passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at her residence. She was born on August 20, 1939, a daughter of the late Dalton S. and Carrie (Painter) Groah. Marie was employed for 30 years at Advanced Auto Parts and was a member of Fishersville Baptist Church. She was an avid NASCAR fan with her favorite driver being Jeff Gordon and she loved listening to her favorite artist Dwight Yoakam. Marie greatly enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her children’s father, Joseph Landes; grandson, Adam Coffey; and brother, Charles Groah. Survivors include her daughters, Tammy Coffey and her husband, Darrell of Waynesboro and Terri Shifflett of Staunton; grandchildren, Stephanie Marie Landes, Jessi Kidd and her husband, Jeremiah, Jacob Shifflett, and Floyd “Tyke” Shifflett, III and his wife, Lessie; seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Hazel Rexrode, Virginia Sorrels, and Rebecca Elrod and her husband, Harry; sister-in-law, Mary Groah; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Marie also leaves behind her four legged friend, Maddie. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Doug Brooks, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jacob Shifflett, Floyd “Tyke” Shifflett, III, Jeremiah Kidd, Myles Orebaugh, Jett Bennett and Floyd Shifflett, Jr. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2017 at the funeral home.
