Marie O. Carty

Marie Olive (Garnich) Carty, 93, of Stuarts Draft, VA passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at the home of her granddaughter, Meghan Carty and her husband, Jay Collins. Born April 20, 1924 in Trenton, NJ she was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Herpe) Garnich. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Carty; great grandson, CJ Collins; brother, Pete Garnich; sisters, Ann Garnich and Simone Weiler. Survivors include her children, Tim Carty and wife, Marion of FL, Mark Carty and wife, Peggy of VA, Nancy Metzger and husband, Bill of ME and George Carty of ME; sister, Betty Bitler of NJ; brother, Ray Garnich and wife, Jane of NJ; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, North Hanover Township, NJ. All who plan to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery. There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Stuarts Draft, VA and Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home of Hamilton, NJ.
