Philip C. Katz, 85, of Falls Church VA, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017. He was born on January 18, 1932, in Paterson, New Jersey, to Carl and Charlotte Katz. He had one sister, Carolyn, who passed away in 1976. Mr. Katz grew up in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, and moved to Northern Virginia in 1971 when his employer relocated. Philip was the husband for almost 53 years of the beloved Mary Ann Duke Katz, who passed away in June, 2008. Surviving are two daughters; Kathleen Pedati of Oak Hill, VA and Caroline McGinn of Falls Church. Also surviving are four sons; John, James, and Paul of Falls Church, and Christopher of Centreville, VA. Also, survived by 19 grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews. Philip was in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 and served in Germany. He received a Bachelor's Degree from the Warton School of Finance and Commerce in 1954, and his Master's of Business Administration Degree from New York University in 1966. Philip was employed by the U.S. Brewer's Association/The Beer Institute in New York and Washington, DC from 1957 through 1995, and afterwards, remained a consultant. He began his career as a Statistician and eventually became Senior Vice President/Research, as well as interim President, on two occasions. Friends may call at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 West Broad St., Falls Church, VA 22046, Wednesday, December 06, 2017 from 3 - 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 6420 Linway Terrace, McLean, VA, Thursday, December 07, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery with Military Honors at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Catholic Charities. http://catholiccharitiesusa.org.
