Maureen Joan Mello

Maureen J. Mello (58), of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017 in Arlington, VA. Daughter of the late Thomas W. Matthews II and Eileen Matthews, and sister of Ann Mallon and the late Thomas W. Matthews III. She is survived by her loving dog, Brenner; her Godson and nephew Michael Mallon (Lynn); nephews Walter Mallon (Della) and Kevin Mallon (Christie); and was the great-aunt to seven. Maureen was an active member of the animal community, having raised many pets, and served as an entomologist for the Smithsonian. A funeral service will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Reston, VA on Thursday, January 4 at 11am with a visitation starting at 10:30 am, followed by a gathering of family and friends at the same location.
