Kay Ellen Voglewede

Our beloved sister, aunt, godmother and friend passed away on January 17, 2018. Kay was born in Hampton, Virginia on March 1, 1940. She graduated from St. Vincent de Paul High School in Newport News, then attended Mary Manse College in Ohio. After receiving a Bachelors in Physics, she began a 33 year career with NASA in Washington, DC as an editor in the Scientific and Technical Information Program. She retired to Williamsburg, Virginia to be closer to family. Kay is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas J. and Ella V. Voglewede, and her brothers, Jim, Mike and Phil. She leaves behind brothers, Joe (Linda) of Charlotte, NC, and Carl (Karen) of Surry, VA; sisters, Peg (Sisters of Charity of Nazareth) Louisville, KY, Mary Peterson (Rick) of Youngsville, NC and Chris Tingle (Tom) of Williamsburg, VA. Kay is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be between 6-8 PM Friday, February 2, 2018 at Nelsen Funeral Home in Williamsburg, VA. A funeral mass will be conducted at 1 PM Saturday, February 3, 2018 at St. Bede Catholic Church, Williamsburg, VA. Interment to follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to “St. Bede – Food Pantry”, 3686 Ironbound Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23188.
