Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home
Richard “Rick” George Williams, 68, of Greencastle, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018, losing his battle with cancer.
Rick was born August 29, 1949 in Portland Mills, IN, the son of Herman E. and Dorothy A. (Gorham) Williams. In September 1984 he met Rhoda T. (Nixon) Williams at a Portland Mills picnic and they were married on September 28, 1985.
Rick was a hard worker. He worked several years for various farmers in the community after leaving school. He enjoyed working and farming with his neighbor, Delmas Abbott. Rick went to work for the Putnam County Highway Department, working for 34 ½ years, having to retire in May of 2015 due to health reasons.
Rick loved life. His family and friends will remember him as a giver, not a taker, and a lover of God. He was a member of Portland Mills Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Rhoda T. Williams, brothers, Herman T. (Marie) Williams, Dave (Anna Mae) Williams, John Williams, William “Bill” Williams, Frank Williams, Robert (Sharon) Williams, Art (Sam) Williams; a sister, Bea (Marty) Fallon; although Rick & Rhoda loved children they had none, and filled the gap with the love of their family and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Marie Switzer, Mary Anne Vermillion, and Elizabeth Delp.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Bainbridge Cemetery.
