Obituary of Marie I Caster
Marie Caster passed peacefully February 18th in St Vincent’s Hospital Kokomo. Marie was born December 19, 1915 in Kokomo to Francis and Charles Eckles. Marie married Kenneth Caster in 1934. She joined the Daughters of America in 1939. Mrs. Caster began working at Delco Electronics in 1947 until 1977 and was a member of UAW 292. She was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church. She volunteered at St. Joseph’s hospital from 1978-2017. Marie was awarded the Golden Hoosier by the State of Indiana for area 5 in 2016 for her years of service and countless hours of work at St. Joe. She enjoyed cards games such as euchre, hand and foot and crazy eights. She could sit for hours enjoying Mexican train dominoes and aggravation with family and friends. She adored her grandchildren and could be found in the front row of swim meets, soccer, basketball, baseball games and music concerts cheering the loudest. Although she was not known for her cooking ability, she made the very best homemade noodles for family and church gatherings She was an avid crafter and member of the UAW 292 Hobby Club with crocheting, knitting and plastic canvas stitching being her specialties. She loved traveling and logged countless trips to California, most of the fifty states, many cruises, even traveling abroad to Germany, Switzerland and England. She is survived by three of her five children; Shirley J. Clark of Kokomo, Kenneth C. (Linda) Caster of Monticello, and Cindy Steen of Manteca, CA.; Eight of her nine grandchildren, Tina, Steve, Gerri, Rusty, Betty, Kit, Janene and Lana; Ten Great-grandchildren; Billy, Traepha, Michelle, Micah, Shannon, Zack, Stephanie, Kyler, Abby and Aaron; Ten Great great-grandchildren; Jordyn, Jordan, Colton, Ivory, Nik, Addyson, Trey, Hayden, Keelyn and Emmery. She is survived as well by numerous nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, children; Jack, Betty Carol, granddaughter; Kim, siblings, Bill, Katie, Van, Leona, Pansey, Jerry and Ralph. A gathering of friends and family will be Thursday, February 22, 2018 Sunset Memorial Gardens Funeral Home 2097 W Alto Road, Kokomo, IN from 3-7. A funeral will be held at Faith United Methodist Church, 1514 Faith Road, Kokomo IN at 11 am with visitation at 10 am. Burial is to immediately follow the service at Sunset Gardens. The family’s preferred memorial contribution can be made to Faith United Methodist Church.
