Roberta A. Bitter

Roberta Bitter, 80, of Evansville, IN, passed away March 1, 2018. She was born August 17, 1937 in Evansville to Robert and Virginia Holtz. Roberta was a lifelong member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and she enjoyed working bingo. She had worked at Indiana Bell, Sears (in the boys department), and Alexander Funeral Homes. Roberta was very proud of her family and valued her lifelong friends of 75 years. She loved a good joke and telling a good joke. Roberta was generous and appreciated giving her opinion. She was always fair, kind, liked to tease, and was a hard worker. “Well done, good and faithful servant!” She is preceded in death by her husband and best friend of 58 years, Ronald K. Bitter; and her father, Robert Holtz. Roberta is survived by her daughter, Tami O’Rourke (Daniel F.); son, Tim Bitter (Ann); mother, Virginia Holtz; brother, Robert Holtz; sisters, Regina Sisk, Vanell Volkman, Pam Young (Roger); Grandchildren, Natalie Briddell (Brandon), Meggie Komar (Chris), David O’Rourke, Trisha Memmer (Clint), Kristen Mott (James), and Matthew Bitter; 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:00 AM on Monday, March 5, 2018, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2301 N Stockwell Road, officiated by Rev. Zach Etienne, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends visited from 12:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Alexander East Chapel, and 9:00 AM until service on Monday, March 5th, 2018, at the church.
