David R Miller

MILLER, David R., born on September 22, 1930, passed away on March 2, 2018. David was preceded in death by his father, David Harr Miller; and his mother, Alice Heckler Miller. Survivors include his wife, Irma Tothill Miller; daughter, Linda M. Byrd (Steve) of Indianapolis, Ind.; a son, David L. Miller (Debbie) of Lafayette Hill, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Donna T. Ornduff (Rick) of Ashland, Va.; one sister, Judy Miller Harrar (Charles). He was blessed with eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. David attended The Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was discharged honorably. David was a skilled machinist and worked for many companies, which included Robertshaw Controls Company in Pennsylvania and Virginia. He retired as a machine shop supervisor at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., and then retired in Myrtle Beach, S.C. David was a member of Surfside United Methodist Church in Surfside Beach, S.C. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, Va. 23005.
