Obituary of Donald Campbell Jones
Donald Campbell “Cam” Jones, age 88, died March 20th at Coventry Meadows Retirement Community. Born February 18, 1930 in Fort Wayne, Cam was the son of Donald H. and Louise C. Jones, co-owners of longtime Fort Wayne business The Troy Laundry Company, whose building is now the home of the Fort Wayne’s Neighborhood Health Clinic. A cum laude graduate of Kenyon College, Cam then served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and later worked in the family business. A very intelligent yet humble and soft spoken man, Cam was a very accomplished chess player, a voracious reader, and mastered multiple languages in his lifetime. He was a kind and gentle soul with a wry sense of humor and a generous benefactor to many local and area charities throughout his life. Cam was certainly well liked and loved by friends and family. His family wishes to recognize and sincerely thank Marcia and Mike Holland for their loving care and assistance given to Cam in his final years. Surviving are first cousin Martha Campbell Shotts (Emmett) and numerous second cousins. He was predeceased by his parents. Cam was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and there will be a graveside service on April 7, 2018 in Lindenwood Cemetery at 11:00 am. Donations may be made in Cam’s memory to the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, Science Central, or the donor’s choice. www.klaehnfahlmelton.com
