Obituary of Harold Eugene Mouser
Harold Eugene Mouser passed away peacefully in Kokomo, Indiana, on Monday, April 2, 2018 surrounded by family. Harold was born July 25, 1934, in Lutesville, Missouri, and was married to his devoted wife, Linda, for 64 years. Harold was a beloved and well-known figure in Kokomo – as a friend, businessman, and family member. Harold was founder and owner of Mouser’s Auto Service, which he opened in 1988 and sold upon retirement in 2011. Prior to his namesake auto business, Harold owned Marathon Gas and Auto Repair in downtown Kokomo from 1966 to 1988. He served as president of the Kokomo Exchange Club, a community service association, and attended Victory Church of God. Harold was an avid and winning sprint car racer from 1954 to 1988, most often at the Kokomo Speedway. His favorite hobby was his motorcycle, which he rode with his wife Linda as members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association “Chapter J” from 1978 to 2014, and which took them around the United States. But his greatest passion and proudest achievement in life was his family, especially his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved and supported. He will be remembered as a man of his word with a quick wit and a big heart. Harold is preceded in death by his parents Melvin Sylvester Mouser and Mandy Bell Abernathy Mouser; sister Virginia Wood; and brothers William Mouser and McCoy Mouser. He is survived by his wife Linda; brother Raymond (Sally) Mouser, Paris, MO; sisters Elta Barrett, Wood River, IL, Glenda (Kermit) Angel, Marble Hill, MO, and Clara (Howard) Brown, Scopus, MO; sister-in-law Sue Mouser; children John Mouser, Kokomo, Jeffrey Mouser, Kokomo, Julie (Gary) Prim, Nashville, TN, and Jill (Phil) Griggs, Greenwood, IN; grandchildren Cari Abrams, Elijah Abrams, Kenzi Mouser, Leslie Carlson, and Mandi Mouser, all of Kokomo, Amy Castillo, Greentown, IN, Cory Prim, Nashville, TN, Derek (April) Mouser, Russiaville, IN, Emily Abrams, Greenwood, IN, and Hillary Prim, New York, NY; 25 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 5th from 3pm to 6:30pm, with a service to follow at 6:30pm, at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home (2097 West Alto Road, Kokomo).
