Obituary of Albert "Eddie" Davis III
Albert Edward “Eddie” Davis III, 68, of Rosedale, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, IL. He was born on October 17, 1949, in Terre Haute to Albert Edward Davis, Jr. and Mary (Roberts) Davis. Eddie is survived by his wife of nearly 10 years, Brenda (Lee) Davis of Rosedale; children, Cassandra Leigh Davis of Cicero, IN and Edward Paul Davis of Monroe, NC; step-children, Lester Vaughn and Vanessa Vaughn-Hamm both of Terre Haute, Angela Parks, and Adam Daubensteck; a granddaughter of North Carolina; step-grandchildren, Ryan Lee Blystone, Dakota Marie Hamm, and Tyler James Duncan, all of Terre Haute; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, the girls: Ruby, Roxie, Missy, and Dee-O-Gee Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Deloris Teepe. Eddie proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from November 1966 through January 1975. He served in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1970. After Eddie returned from the Marine Corps, he went to law enforcement training in Hendricks County. He retired as a Deputy for the Marion County Sheriff’s Department. He then went to work for Hanson Aggregates in Indianapolis. From 2003-2008, Eddie worked for Securitas at various places around Terre Haute. He met his wife, Brenda, during that time and they got married on May 2, 2008. Eddie was a member of Brazil American Legion Post 2, American Legion Post 104, VFW Post 972 , VFW Post 1127, and the Moose Lodge of Brazil. Eddie was also a member of the Brownsburg Freemason Lodge 241. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to camp, fish, and hunt. He also enjoyed collecting coins and listening to music. He also enjoyed collecting guns and was especially fond of his Henry Rifle. Eddie was a Dale Earnhardt #3 fan. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 6 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, at the funeral home. Eddie will be laid to rest in Sulphur Springs Cemetery with military honors.
