Donald H. Scheimann

Donald Harold Scheimann, age 84, of Lake James, Fremont, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his family. Donald was born on November 22, 1933, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Harold Scheimann and Alice (Ross) Springer. He graduated from Fort Wayne Central High School in 1953. He also played basketball for Central High School and played semi-pro basketball for the Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons. He was a member of the Southgate Masonic Lodge F & AM, and the Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne. Don was a member of the Lake George Lutheran Chapel, Fremont, Indiana. He married Dorene (Dungan) Weaver on December 8, 1979 in Angola, Indiana. Don loved the lake, he held the title of honorary mayor of Lake James in 1974, and was inducted into the Indiana State Water Skiing Hall of Fame. He was an Indiana Hoosier basketball fan. Don retired as Quality Control Manager from the Zollner Corporation in Fort Wayne. After retirement Don focused on his love of waterskiing and boating working part time at local marinas and operating a ski school. Survivors include his wife, Dorene “Rene” Scheimann of Lake James, Fremont, Indiana, five children, Lucinda Tatman (James McConley) of Bandon, Oregon, Kirby (Laura) Scheimann of Gainsville, Georgia, Stacy (Frank) Rose of Centerville, Ohio, Peggy (Keith) Schreiber of Angola, Indiana, and Becky (Kevin) Seiler of Noblesville, Indiana, two sisters, Lois Gumbert , and Carol Van, thirteen grandchildren that brought him so much joy, Moses Tatman, KC Specht, Amelia Tatman, Sara Venable, Zach Tatman, Mason Rose, Nick Scheimann, Gust Rose, Samantha Schreiber, Olivia Scheimann, Max Seiler, Kate Seiler, and Lincoln Schreiber, and great grandchildren, Forrest James, Emma Cate, Adeline Charlotte and Ava. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Todd Scheimann, in 1963. A Service of Celebration of Eternal Life will be held at 11 am Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Lake George Lutheran Chapel, 1540 W 800 N, Fremont, Indiana, with Rev. David A. Easterday officiating. There will be one hour of calling prior to the services at the church. Additionally a gathering will take place immediately following the services, at the Mad Anthony's Lakeview Ale House, 4080 N 300 W, Angola, Indiana 46703.
