Obituary of Charles Matthew "Matt" Hoffman Sr.
Charles Matthew “Matt” Hoffman, Sr., 37, of Afton passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018. Born March 30, 1981 in Waynesboro, he was the son of Penny and Bobby Martin. Matt was employed by Blue Ridge Beverage where he worked as a route driver. As an avid outdoorsmen, Matt enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband and dedicated and devoted father to his four sons. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Walter Hoffman and his maternal great grandparents, Charles and Clara Critzer. In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife of 19 years, Misty Shawnta Hoffman; sons, Charles Matthew Hoffman, Jr., Trenton Hoffman, Chancollor Hoffman and Elijiah Hoffman; maternal grandparents, Tommy and Phyllis Swink; paternal grandmother, Mary Jane Hoffman; uncle, Vance Swink; brothers, Buster Martin and wife, Sharon and Marty Martin and wife, Teresa; sister, Tracy Martin; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jeffrey Cash, Sr. and Lynn Cash; brother-in-law, Jeffrey Cash, Jr.; sister-in-law, Tabitha Keys and husband, Brandon; special cousin, Brandon Harris and wife, Melanie; special friends who thought of him as their son, Joe and Sue Lawhorne; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was loved by all who knew him. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Rodes United Methodist Church, 286 Avon Road, Afton with Pastor Jason Canipe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Matthew Hoffman, Jr., Trenton Hoffman, Chancollor Hoffman, Elijiah Hoffman, Jeffrey Cash, Sr., Jeffrey Cash, Jr., Brandon Harris and Buster Martin. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway.
