Obituary of Helen Sprinkle Hunter
Helen Sprinkle Hunter, 88, of Rustburg, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the loving wife of Carlos Allan Hunter for 64 years. Born April 9, 1929 in Mars Hill, NC she was a daughter to the late Henry Merritt Sprinkle and Zora Edwards Sprinkle. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James Sprinkle and Earl Sprinkle; and three sisters, Sadie Fox, Vera Edwards, Edith Sprinkle. Helen was a member of Timberlake Baptist Church where she was also a retired preschool teacher with Timberlake Christian School. She loved her Lord, her family and her church family. Helen was a prayer warrior and had a heart for serving others. She had a selfless sacrificial love for many but especially her husband who she spent the last 10 years faithfully caring for and loving unconditionally due to his Alzheimer’s. Helen also loved to cook, sew, sing and do puzzles, but most of all she loved people. Helen was a strong woman who dedicated her life to raising her family with a Godly heritage and she treated everyone like family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Roger Hunter, Sr. and wife Patricia; two daughters, Linda Duncan and husband Mike, and Doris Hunter; four grandchildren, Roger Hunter, Jr. and wife Cindy, Clint Hunter and wife Maurine, Amy Horsley and husband David, and Michael Duncan and wife Ellie; five great-grandchildren, Logan Hunter, Ada Hunter, Kaitlyn Hunter, Fern Hunter, and Hannah Hunter. A funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Timberlake Baptist Ministry Center with the Pastor Larry Brodie officiating. Burial to follow in Virginia Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
