Curtis Roy "Rocky" Cobler

Curtis Roy "Rocky" Cobler, 62, of Bassett, Virginia passed away peacefully at his home on April 8, 2018 with his loving family surrounding him. He was born on June 29, 1955 to Betty Joyce Cline and the late Curtis Roy Harris. Rocky graduated Bassett High School in 1973. He was the owner of Arovik Signs since 1972 and was also known as "The Sign King". He enjoyed camping, gold prospecting and produced The Quickdraw Show on television and preached the Weary Pilgrim Show. He was a lifelong musician who played bass for Fork Mountain Grass, Lee Terrace, and Quickdraw. He was a dedicated member of Fort Trial Baptist Church. He studied at Cornerstone Bible College and led many services with The Weary Pilgrim Ministry at Stanleytown Healthcare and Harmony Hall. He supported numerous local charitable organizations and ministries in his lifetime. He was granted the J.T. Hooker Award from Piedmont Arts for his support of the arts. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by one infant son, Andrew Cobler and one brother, G.W. Cobler. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Vickie Lynn Brown Cobler; three children; Kris Cobler and wife Sabrina of Salem, VA, Sarah Cobler of Fayetteville, N.C., Nicholas Cobler of Charlotte, N.C.; one brother, Michael Cline and wife Vickie of Bassett, VA, and one granddaughter, Anna Cobler. Visitation will be held at Fort Trial Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 11 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m..Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 12 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Trial Baptist Church with Joey McNeil officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway, Virginia. Collins Funeral Home in Bassett, VA is respectfully serving the Cobler family. After dealing with this battle of cancer and liver failure, the Cobler family encourages the community to take into consideration their choice of becoming an organ donor.
