Obituary of Shirley Ann (Ross) Freeman
Shirley Ann (Ross) Freeman, 82, of Waynesboro passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Augusta Health. Born August 22, 1935 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Simon Albert and Stella Rinken (Collins) Ross. Prior to retirement, Shirley was employed with the former Leggett’s Department Store and later Belk where she was a faithful employee for many years. She was a member of Wayne Hills Baptist Church and the Waynesboro Moose Lodge #1309 Women’s Auxiliary. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family and playing Bingo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William M. “Bill” Freeman; four brothers, Charles “Monk” Ross, Wilbur Ross, Brian Ross and Billy Ross; and two sisters, Dorothy Jenkins and Marjorie Pope. Survivors include her two sons, Jeffrey S. Freeman and Neil R. Freeman (Glenda) both of Waynesboro; sister-in-law, Lois Snyder of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Whitney R. Edwards (Derek) and William S. Freeman; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Riverview Cemetery. Those who plan to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery. There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home. The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to the staff of Augusta Health for the care their mother received during her stay.
