Shirley Jean Fipps

Shirley Sargent Fipps, 92, Kokomo, passed away on May 9th, 2018 at 3:12pm. She was born January 25, 1926 in Kokomo to Mable (Jarvis) and Orvil Sargent. Shirley married Elmer E. "Bud" Fipps Jr. on July 15, 1949 in Kokomo. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1985. In 1944 Shirley graduated from Kokomo H.S. She retired in 1994 as a secretary in the Administrative building for the Kokomo-Center Schools. She was a longtime member of Northview Christian Church. Those surviving Shirley are her son Kim S. Fipps, brother Robert (Judy) Sargent, daughter-in-law Deborah Fipps, grandchildren Charity Fipps (Alex Smithers), Stephany (Travis) Dishon, Zach Fipps, Adam (Andrea) Fipps, and Ashley Fipps. She is also survived by great grandson Nathiah, two nieces Sally Sargent, Polly (Brad) Bray, two nephews Dan (Tracey) Sargent, Scott (Janelle) McCoy, and several extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer, son Kevin Fipps, sister Sandra Sargent, and nephew Mike Sargent. Memorial Contributions may be made to Northview Christian Church with envelopes available at the mortuary. A Funeral Service will be held at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel on Saturday May 19th, 2018 at 1:30pm with Pastor Chuck Armstrong officiating.
