James Walter Paitson, 85, of Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Regional Hospital. He was born on May 5, 1933, in Terre Haute to Walter and Virginia (McBain) Paitson.
James is survived by his children: Sally Gossett and husband Tony of Rockville, David Paitson and wife Lauren of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, and J.W. Paitson of Terre Haute; nephews, Bill Paitson and wife Rita and Steve Paitson and wife Sue, all of Seelyville; cousin, Joann Gibbens of Meridian, ID; and his best friend of over 60 years, Dick Hanley of Terre Haute.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frank Paitson.
James graduated from Garfield High School in 1950. He earned his Master’s Degree in Business from ISU. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. James owned and operated his family business, Paitson’s Market and Bakery for many years on the corner of 15th and Locust on the North side of Terre Haute. He loved to travel, garden, and go to festivals. He also enjoyed photography and Indiana State Sycamore Basketball. Most of all, James cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.
A private graveside service was held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Roselawn Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.roselawnfuneralhome.net
