Ruth B. Robbins, 90 of Markle passed away at 6:15 pm on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Sycamore Village in Fort Wayne. Ruth was an English teacher who taught for several years at Bluffton, Lebanon, St. Joe, Lancaster and South Side High School. She was also a librarian for many years at Kekionga Jr. High and South Side High School, retiring in 1986 from Fort Wayne Community Schools. She was raised in the Primitive Baptist Church; she attended Markle United Methodist Church. She loved nature and was an avid bird watcher.
Ruth was born on December 2, 1927 in Blount County, Alabama, the daughter of Geroge Henry and Emma Augusta (Lewis) Barnes
She was united in marriage to John Robbins on June 5, 1949 in Berea, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on September 13, 1999.
Survivors include three daughters: Rita Robbins of Markle; Nina Nordblom of Clarkrange, TN; Deborah Robbins of San Francisco, CA; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 4:00 pm following visitation at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel with Pastor Chad Yoder officiating.
Memorial donations can be made out to Parkview Hospice in care of Myers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 403, Markle, IN 46770.
