Obituary of Joyce J Bausser
Joyce J. Bausser 94, of Fort Wayne passed away Thursday May 31st at home. She was the daughter of the late William Oswald and Isabelle Gillie Oswald. She is survived by Sons; William (Caroline) Bausser of Neptune Beach, FL and Robert (Ann) Bausser of Ft. Wayne, a Daughter Janet Bausser of Ft. Wayne, and 3 grandsons, Brent, Blake and Nathan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband William Bausser, four brothers, Kenneth, Lloyd, Ted, Bruce Oswald and a sister Janet Miller. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. Joyce was an extraordinary woman. As the wife of a career military officer, she became adept at managing the many changes of duty stations, not only by organizing the moving of the household and setting up new homes, but also in ensuring the family adapted to their new surroundings. She was enthusiastic about each new place, whether as seemingly mundane as Ohio or as exotic as France. She made sure the family experienced all that each place had to offer. She was active in the officers’ wives’ clubs, made life-long friends with each move, and found ways to contribute to her community through volunteer work. Most notably she loved to entertain and was a gourmet cook. Golf was her sport of choice, and following her mother’s lead, she became an accomplished bridge player. When she and Jerry retired from the military and moved to Fort Wayne, she continued to be active and involved. She served her church in a number of capacities, was active in PEO, and supported her youngest son’s scout and band activities. She and Jerry continued to entertain and delight their guests with her gourmet cooking. Late in life, as a widow, she still entertained, played bridge, and was active in PEO, her church, and the Towne House. Even in the restrictive life that dementia eventually imposed on her, she kept her sense of humor and endured quietly and gracefully. Please join the family in a Celebration of her life on July 14th at Grace Presbyterian Church 1811 Fairhill Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46808.
