+Alise Campbell+ Alise was born July 25, 1925, in Lyons, GA, the second of three daughters in a family of six children born to Julius Bradley and Zenobia McSwain. Alise spent her formative years in rural GA, picking cotton in nearby fields and attending grammar school. After attending a trade school in Savannah, GA, Alise moved to the DC area where she worked on munitions at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA during World War II. In 1944, Alise was baptized at the First Christian Church, in Delray, VA. She met Alvin Campbell when he returned from Army service at the end of the war. They were married in 1946. During their 35+ years together, they were blessed with five children. In addition to being a wife, mother, and homemaker, Alise worked at Heller’s Bakery Bakery in Alexandria where she created fresh chocolate delicacies and then later as the sales manager for W.T. Grant, a nearby department store. Alise and Alvin lived in Jefferson Manor in Fairfax County, VA. They resided there for over 20 years before relocating to Triangle, VA. Alvin passed away in 1982. Since 1990, Alise has resided with either her youngest child, Christine and her husband Kevin Kasper in Virginia and later Tampa, FL, or with her middle daughter, Marie and her husband, Dean Rakoskie, near Statesboro, GA. Alise became a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Triangle, Virginia in 1986, and maintained a strong relationship with the church for the next 32 years. She passed away on Monday, June 4, at Marie and Dean’s home. Alise is survived by four children: Brenda Lee Newton, of Dalton, Georgia, Vernon Alvin Campbell (Maureen), of Fairfax, Virginia, Merilyn Marie Rakoskie (Dean), of Pembroke, Georgia, and Christine Alise Kasper (Kevin), of Lithia, Florida, thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A son, Alan LeRoy Campbell, preceded her in death in 1991. Memorial Gifts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made in Alise’ name Concordia Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 336, Triangle, VA 22172-0336; to Kindred Hospice, 1525 Fair Road, Suite. 107, Statesboro, GA 30458, or to the donor’s favorite charity. Interment will be at Mount Comfort Cemetery at 1:00 p.m., following this service.
