Garrett Thomas Smith Sr.

Garrett Thomas “Gary” Smith, Sr., 77, of Mount Sidney, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018 at his home. He was born in New Jersey on November 10, 1940, a son of the late Thomas and Margaire (Wintermate) Smith. Gary proudly served and retired from the United States Army; fighting in the Vietnam. He later worked as a Food Service Supervisor at the Staunton Correctional Center. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Melissa V. Smith; children, Sherry Hartman and Garrett T. Smith, Jr.; granddaughter, Kristee Gilmer;step-daughter, Martha Coldiron; as well as numerous extended family and friends. All services will be private. There will no formal public viewing or visitation.
