Obituary of Charles Robert Kerr
Charles Robert Kerr Jr, 94, of Greencastle, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Mill Pond Health Campus. Charles was born January 23, 1924 in Attica the son of Charles Robert and Beryl E. (Smith) Kerr and was a graduate of Attica High School. He was a supervisor with Allison Transmission for over 35 years, retiring July 30, 1980. Charles was a life time member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He enjoyed bowling, a member of the Bowlers Hall of Fame, having bowled on the Central National Bank team. He enjoyed gardening, flowers, picking berries & cherries, bird watching, and a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal fan. Charles is survived by his daughters, Beckie (husband, Steve) Hight and Judi (husband, Eric) Birt; brothers, John Richard (wife, Laurel) Kerr, William K. (wife, Elsie) Kerr, Paul Donald Kerr, and Michael Kerr; a sister, Martha Lawless; five grandchildren, Brandi (husband, Chris) Cooper, Katie (husband, Randy) Ritter, Michelle (husband, Alex) Birt Kruse, Jenny (husband, Brent) Sisk, and Andrew Birt; great grandchildren, Brandon Cooper, Makayla & Macie Ritter, and Piper Grace Birt. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Sarah Beth (Elmore) Kerr; his parents; and brothers, Jim and Joe Kerr. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Entombment with military honors will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, July 2nd at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home.
