Steven Alan Cofer

Steven Alan Cofer, 65, of Greencastle passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his family. Steven was born in Greencastle on April 24, 1953, the son of James Russel and Lillian Christine (Pelfrey) Cofer, and was a graduate of Greencastle High School. Mr. Cofer worked at DePauw University in facilities. He also worked for over 20 years in the local lumber industry, and worked for many years at Varsity Lanes in Greencastle. He was an avid bowler. He was a member of the American Bowling Congress (ABC), and was inducted into the Greencastle Bowling Hall of Fame. Steven was a past member of Eagles Aria #4388 and Moose Lodge #1592. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Janet Cofer, a son, Russel “Rusty” Cofer, (Brandy), Greencastle; a daughter, Mandy Cofer, Greencastle; two sisters, Linda Wood, (John), Abilene, Texas, and Sheri Kendall, (Melvin), Greencastle; three grandchildren, Benjamin, Ella, and Dean Cofer; two step-grandchildren, Bailey and Blake Douglas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Avery Cofer. A graveside memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018, in Fillmore Cemetery.
