Obituary of Ruby Irene (Meeker) McCorvie Moore
Ruby Irene (Meeker) McCorvie Moore, 96, of Charlestown, Indiana and formerly of New Albany, Indiana, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Everett and Reva Meeker. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Everett and Gene Meeker. Ruby was married to Wayne McCorvie and then to Edward Moore, both deceased. Ruby graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Fine Arts. She taught in high schools in Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri. She was a practicing artist and worked in all categories in oils. Ruby lived for 16 years at the Powder Plant known as River Ridge in Charlestown, Indiana and also 25 years in Zellwood, Florida, plus time in Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri. She enjoyed bowling, golf, ballroom dancing, flower gardening, and card games. She was a former member of Central Christian Church in Danville, Illinois. Ruby is survived by one daughter, Donna Staser; three sons, Terry McCorvie (Kathleen), Dennis McCorvie (Jody), and David McCorvie; 8 grandchildren, Ryan and Scott McCorvie, Sherri Benningfield, Tina Nethery, Keith McCorvie, Kelly Poto, Amber Boles, and Matthew McCorvie; and 11 great grandchildren, Aden, Evan, Natalie, Rylee, Nathan, Victor, Vanessa, Cecily, Vivian, Kyle, and MaKenna. Memorial Visitation will be 11 am ~ 1 pm Monday, August 6th, followed by a Memorial Service at 1 pm Monday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany.
