James R. Lecky

James R. Lecky of Falls Church, VA, died on Friday, August 3, 2018. He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Barbara A. Mutz, sons, Kenneth (Dolores) Lecky and Alexander Lecky, sister, Alice (Gary) Burress, and brother, Jeffrey (Donna) Lecky. Jim was born January 2, 1950, in Pittsburgh, PA, to James A. and Willa M. (Elicker) Lecky.
Economist, historian, writer, and mentor, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brown University, earned master's degrees from The Ohio State and George Washington Universities, and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi honor society. He served in the intelligence community for the federal government for 31 years and as a consultant for CENTRA Technology, Inc. for eight years. He was very active at Knox Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder, teacher, and occasional preacher, and was a member of the People of Praise Community.
Friends are invited to celebrate Jim's life at a visitation at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 W Broad St, Falls Church, VA on Monday, August 13 from 6 to 9 p.m with a time of prayer and remembrance to begin at 7:45 pm. The funeral service will be Tuesday, August 14 at 1 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, 7416 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA followed by a brief graveside service at National Memorial Park, 7400 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, and a reception at Knox.
