James Edwin Burkholder

James “Ed” Edwin Burkholder, age 63 of Lynchburg passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. He was born on March 31, 1955 in Lynchburg, son of James Harper Burkholder and the late Betty Boyd Burkholder. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Boyd. Ed is survived by his father, James as well as two sisters, Lillian B. Rice and Martha B. Rice. He was a self-taught guitarist at a young age. Music was a big part of his life, as was his dog J.D. Special thanks to his lifelong friend, Mike Hudson, for staying with Ed at the Bedford Hospice Home until his death. A celebration of his life will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the home of his sister, Martha on the terrace level in her backyard.
