Joan Pickard
November 19, 1949 – October 3, 2018

Alma Joan Pickard, 68, passed away on October 3rd, 2018 at her home, with family by her side. Joan was born to Elmer and Alma Hedger on November 19th, 1949 in Kokomo. Joan attended Kokomo High School, class of 1968. She married her husband of 42 years, William "Bill" Pickard on July 12th, 1969, and he preceded her in passing in 2011. Joan retired from Delco after 36 1/2 years of service.
Joan enjoyed quilting and needlepoint. She was an avid reader. Joan had been a long-time member of Abundant Life Church, and participated in the M&M Club. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and was known at Delco as "Gorgeous." Joan loved her grandkids and great-grandkids very much. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Joan leaves behind her children, P.J. (Denise) Pickard and their children Joseph and Emily; Susan Myers and her children Maria and Breanne, and Joan's great-grandchildren Dwayne, Harmony, Liam, Joseph, and Charlie; and Karrie (Brett) Lavengood and their daughter Madison; and her siblings Sharon (Monte) Kemper, Diane (Leon) Ditmore, and Mitchell Hedger; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
Joan is preceded in passing by her husband; her parents; brothers Rick Ward and Danny Hedger; and sister Nancy Hedger.
Friends and family may call from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 7th, at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 3:00PM, with Pastor Charlie Riley officiating.
Joan will be laid to rest at Albright Cemetery following the service. Family would like to extend a special thank you to Chrissy and Bridget of Kindred Hospice Care and Dr. Hussein.
