Obituary of Wayne Troyer
Wayne Troyer, 96, of Woodburn, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Olive Branch Estates, Chanhassen, MN. Born November 1, 1922 in Miami County, IN, he was a son of the late Noah and Mary (Schlabach) Troyer. Wayne proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps for four years during World War II as a B-17 Flying Fortress radio operator including more than thirty combat missions in Europe. He graduated from Indiana Technical Institute in 1949 with a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a Mechanical Design Engineer with International Harvester for 30 years, from which he retired in 1980. He was also a member of Harlan Church of Christ for over 60 years. Wayne enjoyed carpentry, fishing at the cabins in Wisconsin, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Purdue basketball and eating homemade vanilla ice cream. Surviving are son, Greg (Kim) Troyer of Fishers, IN; daughter, Cindy (Fred) Drantch of Shorewood, MN; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Evan) Williams, Kendra (Brian) Bigler, Evan (Alacia Bergh) Drantch, Dan Troyer, Hannah (Harry) Mann, and Elizabeth Drantch; one great-granddaughter, Evelyn Belle Bigler. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 years, Celestia (Clark) Troyer; brothers, Elmer, Phineas, and Perry Troyer; and sister, Mary Ann Yoder. A Celebration of Life Service will be 1:30pm on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Harlan Church of Christ, 17108 SR 37, Harlan, IN with calling beginning at 11:30 am. Evangelist Dave Atchley officiating.
