Richard Carl Stalf, 91, of Fremont, IN, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at his residence.
He was born April 6, 1927 in Fort Wayne to the late Carl F. and Lucille M. (Beberstine) Stalf. He was a graduate of North Side High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Tri-State University. He was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran. He was self-employed in the construction industry as a plastering contractor with his father and then later retired from school equipment sales. Richard enjoyed getting together and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed lake life, games and puzzles as well as gardening and camping. He is survived by his brother-in-law and best friend, William Hanselman of Orland, IN; his sons, David R. Stalf (Alice Bush) of Gary, IN; Larry L. (Gail) Stalf of Farwell, MI and Dan A. (Janet) Stalf of Angola, IN; grandchildren, John Stalf of Pleasant Lake, IN; Ryan (Susie) Stalf of Angola, IN; Angela (Brett) Williams of Hudson, IN; Lindsay (Richard) Dailey of Indianapolis, IN and Chelsea (Andy) Hayward of Indianapolis, IN and several great grandchildren. He married Lila Lee (Hanselman) on September 4, 1948. She preceded him in death April 1, 2014 after 65 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by daughter, Lisa A. Stalf, and daughter-in-law, Lark Stalf. A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Fremont Police and/or Fire Department.
